Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!
On August 5, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Forefeast of the Transfiguration and remembers the Holy Martyr Eusignius and the Righteous Nonna. The Church prepares for the Transfiguration while honoring faithful witnesses, including Saint Nonna, the prayerful mother of Saint Gregory the Theologian.
Today’s Scripture readings are 1 Corinthians 16:4–12 and Matthew 21:28–32. The apostolic reading models faithful stewardship, while the Gospel contrasts obedient repentance with empty promises. As the Transfiguration approaches, the Church calls us to let Christ’s light transform our choices.
