Matins Livestream -- November 4, 2026

A prayerful beginning to the day

Our ministry will livestream Matins on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. EST. We invite you to pause with us at the beginning of the day and turn your attention to Christ through the Church’s morning prayer. You are welcome wherever you are joining us, whether at home, in a care community, or before beginning the day’s work.

Honoring St Joannicius the Great

We remember St. Joannicius the Great, whose life was marked by sustained prayer, psalmody, and trust in God. After military service, he entered the monastic life and devoted himself to seeking the Lord. His story reminds us that prayer grows through patient practice and a willingness to place our lives in God’s hands.

Scripture for this service

The Scripture readings for this service are 1 Thessalonians 2:1–8 and Luke 11:42–46. St. Paul describes ministry marked by sincerity and tender care. Christ calls His hearers to justice and the love of God, reminding us that outward religious observance must be joined to mercy. These readings invite us to let prayer shape how we treat others.

Making room for prayer

We may have little control over the demands a day brings, but we can offer its beginning to God. A few moments of attentive prayer can help us meet those demands with greater patience. As we honor St. Joannicius, let us ask the Lord to quiet our distractions and teach us to listen, so that our words and actions may bring peace to those around us.

Join our outreach community

St. Panteleimon Orthodox Christian Outreach welcomes all who wish to share in this time of prayer. We especially remember those who are homebound, living in nursing homes or assisted living, and everyone carrying illness or loneliness. Our next calendar-confirmed livestream is Typica on Friday, November 6, at 8:00 a.m. EST. Visit https://stpanteleimon.com to explore Orthodox services, upcoming feast days, and Orthodox prayer life.
