Glory to Jesus Christ!
On October 23, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Apostle James, the Brother of the Lord. Known as the first Bishop of Jerusalem, St. James stands as a pillar of faith and a model of pastoral care, guiding the early Church with wisdom, humility, and love for Christ.
According to Holy Tradition, St. James was a kinsman of our Lord Jesus Christ and one of the Seventy Apostles. As the leader of the Church in Jerusalem, he presided over the first Apostolic Council (Acts 15), helping to define the path of the growing Christian community. His epistle, read in Orthodox churches throughout the world, teaches the inseparable bond between faith and works, reminding believers that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:26).
We invite you to join us for our next livestream on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 8:00am Eastern.
