Glory to Jesus Christ!
On October 16, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Longinus the Centurion. Once a Roman soldier, Longinus witnessed the crucifixion of Christ and became one of the first to proclaim His divinity, declaring, “Truly, this was the Son of God” (Matthew 27:54).
After the Resurrection, Longinus became a devoted follower of Christ, spreading the Gospel and enduring persecution for his faith. His life is a beautiful example of repentance, transformation, and courage — a reminder that no heart is beyond the reach of God’s mercy.
The Power of Faith and Transformation
The story of St. Longinus calls us to reflect on our own faith. His journey from soldier to saint reveals that when we encounter the truth of Christ, our lives can be forever changed. His steadfastness in the face of suffering reminds us that true discipleship often comes with trials — but always leads to eternal life.
