Glory to Jesus Christ!
On August 11, the Orthodox Church commemorates The Holy Martyr and Archdeacon Euplus.
Who Was Saint Euplus?
Saint Euplus was a deacon in the early Church, renowned for his dedicated service to Christ and his commitment to spreading the Christian faith. He was arrested during a period of persecution under the Roman Empire. Despite being offered freedom if he renounced his faith, Saint Euplus chose to remain steadfast and was martyred for his belief in Christ. His example of unwavering commitment to the Gospel continues to encourage believers to remain strong, even in the face of hardship.
The Readings for Today:
1 Corinthians 15:12-19: St. Paul emphasizes the centrality of the resurrection in the Christian faith, explaining that without the resurrection of Christ, our faith would be in vain. This passage reminds us of the hope and eternal life promised through Christ’s resurrection.
Matthew 21:18-22: In this passage, Jesus speaks about the power of faith, using the example of a fig tree that withers when Jesus curses it. He teaches that with faith, even the smallest amount can move mountains and make the impossible possible.
