Today is the First Friday of Great Lent.
On February 27, we commemorate St. Procopios the Confessor of Decapolis, who courageously defended the Orthodox faith and endured suffering for his steadfast commitment to the holy icons. His confession of faith, marked by perseverance and humility, serves as a guiding example during this season of repentance.
The appointed reading from Isaiah 3:1–14 reveals the consequences of spiritual decline and the necessity of righteous leadership and faithful obedience. In these solemn Lenten days, the Church places these prophetic words before us so that we may examine our own lives, seek justice, and return wholeheartedly to the Lord.
