On December 5, the Orthodox Church commemorates St. Sabbas the Sanctified, the venerable founder of the great Lavra of Palestine and a beacon of Orthodox monastic life. His example of humility, perseverance, and unceasing prayer continues to shape the spiritual life of the Church.
The appointed Scriptures—Galatians 5:22–6:2 and Matthew 11:27–30—invite us to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit and to rest in the gentleness of Christ, who bears our burdens and strengthens our hearts.
