Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!
On August 10, the Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr and Archdeacon Lawrence of Rome. Saint Lawrence served the poor as the Church’s true treasure and remained faithful to Christ in martyrdom.
Today’s Scripture readings are 2 Corinthians 2:4–15 and Matthew 23:13–22. Saint Paul describes sorrow that leads to reconciliation, and Christ warns against hypocrisy and spiritual blindness. Saint Lawrence’s service to the poor shows what transparent, sacrificial discipleship looks like.
