Glory to Jesus Christ!

On July 18, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Emilian. St. Emilian’s life is a powerful example of unwavering faith and courage in the face of persecution. His martyrdom serves as a reminder of the deep commitment required to follow Christ, no matter the cost.

Who Was St. Emilian?

St. Emilian was a Christian martyr who endured suffering and ultimately gave his life for his faith. His steadfastness in the face of persecution makes him a powerful example for us all. As we remember St. Emilian today, let us reflect on his courage and draw strength from his example to live boldly in our own faith.

Readings for July 18

As we commemorate St. Emilian, the readings for today invite us to reflect on the themes of judgment, humility, and the incomparable value of the Kingdom of Heaven:

📖 1 Corinthians 4:5-8: St. Paul encourages the Corinthians to humble themselves and recognize that all things are from God. This passage reminds us that we are stewards of God’s grace and should not become proud or self-reliant in our spiritual journey.

📖 Matthew 13:44-54: In this Gospel reading, Jesus shares the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl of Great Price, revealing the profound value of the Kingdom of Heaven. This passage invites us to consider what we treasure most and to seek the eternal riches of God's kingdom.
