Glory to Jesus Christ!
On September 26, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy, Glorious, All-Praised Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, the beloved disciple of Christ. St. John is remembered as a profound witness to the Incarnation, the depth of God’s love, and the eternal truth of the Gospel.
The Beloved Disciple
St. John, called the “Theologian,” was not only one of the Twelve Apostles but also the one who rested on Christ’s breast at the Mystical Supper. His writings—the Gospel, three Epistles, and the Book of Revelation—shine with the themes of divine love, eternal life, and faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. His testimony continues to inspire the Church to live in love and truth.
Today’s Scripture Readings
1 John 4:12–19 – A reminder that God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God.
John 19:25–27; 21:24–25 – Christ entrusts His Mother to the care of the beloved disciple, and John bears witness to all that was written so we may believe.
