Glory to Jesus Christ!
On August 8, the Orthodox Church commemorates Our Father among the Saints Emilian the Confessor, Bishop of Cyzicos.
Who Was Saint Emilian the Confessor?
Saint Emilian the Confessor served as the Bishop of Cyzicos in the 8th century during a time when the Church faced severe opposition, particularly due to the iconoclastic controversies. Despite the challenges of his time, Saint Emilian remained steadfast in his commitment to the Orthodox faith. He was known for his courage in defending the veneration of holy icons and for standing firm in his beliefs, even when faced with persecution. His martyrdom and unwavering faith have earned him a special place in the hearts of Orthodox Christians.
The Readings for Today:

Matthew 21:12-14, 17-20: This passage recounts Christ’s cleansing of the temple and His zeal for the sanctity of the house of God. It also includes His healing of the blind and the lame, demonstrating His authority and compassion.
