Glory to Jesus Christ!
On August 4, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Seven Holy Youths of Ephesus.
The Readings for Today:
1 Corinthians 11:31-12:6: St. Paul speaks about the importance of discernment in the Church and the unity of the Body of Christ. He encourages believers to seek spiritual gifts and use them in service to one another, reminding us of our shared purpose in God's plan.
Matthew 18:1-11: In this passage, Christ teaches His disciples about humility, urging them to become like little children in their faith and to care for the "little ones" who believe in Him. This passage emphasizes the importance of humility, repentance, and the love of God.
The Seven Holy Youths of Ephesus: A Story of Faith and Courage
The Seven Holy Youths of Ephesus are celebrated for their commitment to Christ in the face of severe persecution. According to tradition, they were sealed in a cave by Emperor Decius during his persecution of Christians in the 3rd century. They miraculously slept for over 200 years, only to awaken to find Christianity flourishing throughout the Roman Empire. Their story exemplifies the power of God's providence and the hope of eternal life.
