Glory to Jesus Christ!
On July 28, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Disciples from the Seventy: Prochorus, Nikanor, Timon, and Parmenas—faithful followers of Christ who were chosen to be among the Seventy Apostles. These men served alongside the Apostles and played key roles in spreading the Gospel and serving the early Church.
The Holy Disciples: Faithful Servants of Christ
The Seventy Disciples were early companions of Christ who helped with His ministry, particularly during His travels and teachings. Their role in the early Church was pivotal, as they were among the first to witness Christ’s miracles, hear His teachings, and later, spread the message of salvation throughout the world.
Prochorus: He later became one of the first bishops of Nicomedia and is known for his close association with the Apostle John.
Nikanor: Known for his deep faith, he was one of the first deacons in the early Church.
Timon: Known for his wise leadership and service, Timon played a crucial role in spreading Christianity.
Parmenas: A devoted servant, Parmenas is remembered for his unwavering dedication to Christ and the early Christian community.

St. Paul teaches us about the necessity of sharing the Gospel freely, and how those who spread the message of Christ must not be motivated by material gain but by the love of God and the salvation of souls.Matthew 16:1-6
Jesus warns the Pharisees and Sadducees about their unbelief, encouraging His followers to see beyond the signs of the times and trust in the true revelation of God. This passage reminds us to be vigilant in our faith and not be swayed by worldly distractions.
